Shield N Seal 15″ x 20″ Black and clear vacuum seal bags
When we’re on-the-go during camping season, the last thing I want to do is fire up the grill and make a full meal for everyone. So instead, I do the prep work at home, weeks or sometimes months before a trip, so I can actually sit down and enjoy the campfire with everyone. This is all made possible by vacuum seal technology – my number-one camping hack. Specifically, after some trial and error with different brands and sizes, my go-to bag is the 15”x20” Clear and Black Vacuum Seal Bags made by Shield N Seal (SNS 500). I marinate steak or chicken with some vegetables, vacuum seal it, and then freeze it: for up to a year! When camping time comes around, I throw it in the cooler (it thaws during travel quite nicely), and then when dinner time comes around, I empty our meal into some tinfoil and throw it on the grill, or even better – boil it right in the bag! It’s like the marinade flavor gets locked in, and the food never tastes or smells like plastic (we’ve had a terrible experience with this happening with some of the cheap-quality bags). These vacuum seal bags can withstand boiling and are much more durable than other brands I’ve tried. Moisture and air stay out, and we’ve never had anything get freezer burned. This is because of the thick, high-grade BPA-free material used by Shield N Seal. Bonus: each bag is reusable, making this the best bang for your buck.
